Steven Heller, like our man Stefan Sagmeister, gets far too many inquiries from student designers to respond to with any thoroughness or ease. While [the royal] we noted Sagmeister’s website handled commonly asked questions, Heller has posted a helpful cover letter critique on the AIGA website, which also appears below. (I’ve included the nifty drop cap for your pleasure!) Does Ofazomi agree? Sort of, but not entirely.

The beautiful, late-career typographic illustrations of Yakov Chernikhov (1889–1951) have been published in a new, georgous volume, Graphic Masterpieces. There is loveliness in the hand drawn, cryllic forms.

The best camera is the one you have with you.

Just as a reminder to the gallery, you get better by working on your work. You emphatically DO NOT improve the quality of your work by looking at equipment, researching grad schools, or reading about the latest software update. You have to get your hands dirty as much as possible.
