First Two Years of College: Free or $99/mo

Let us suspend our cynicism and agree that an undergraduate degree is a worthwhile endeavor, if for no other reason than it is required to stand upon the threshold of a middle class life in the United States. For many years Ofazomi has advised undergraduates to earn units as cheaply as possible: take community college courses, study independently and challenge (pass all exams without formally taking the course) for additional, often free, credits and talk your part time employer into filling out internship paperwork so that your work also earns you credits. Here is another excellent idea: take your general education courses online for $99 a month and transfer the credits to your accredited bachelor program. It is better to begin your professional life poor than underwater.

(Psst: The innovative art, engineering and architectural powerhouse, Cooper Union is free. And it’s in Manhattan.)
